UEFA U-21 Championship: Italy close to semi finals
LISBON, May 26 (SW) - Italy are close to a place in the semi finals of the UEFA U-21 Championship following a win over Ukraine, while Denmark and the Netherlands held each other to a 1-1 draw.
<b>Italy - Ukraine</b> 1-0
Ukraine had already won their opening match against the Netherlands, while Italy desperately needed a win after their draw with the Danes.
The Italians were the stronger side, and were eventually rewarded as Giorgio Chiellini netted the winning goal in stoppage time.
<b>Denmark - Netherlands</b> 1-1
Ajax striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar broke the deadlock for the Netherlands in the 37th minute, but Denmark came back with a goal from Thomas Kahlenberg in the 49th.
Italy now have four points from two matches, Ukraine have three, Denmark two and the Netherlands only one.
