ZEIST, Sep 12 (SW) – German champions Turbine Potsdam had to wait 79 minutes for a goal in the UEFA Women’s Cup second round . The lower rated Belgian opponent showed fierce resistance.
Rapide Wezemaal was a far more difficult opponent than expected. The team played compactly with Femke Maes as the technical surprise. Stefanie Draws, new at Potsdam, fought fierce battles with Maes. It remained 0-0 for a long time. Even when Turbine was the team that pressed, Isabell Kerschowski hit the post. Rapide Wezemaal got a real chance in the 62nd minute when a shot from 28 metres hit the bar. There was relief in the Turbine camp in the 79th minute, when Inken Becher passed the ball to German national team player Conny Pohlers, who scored the badly needed 1-0.
