Bayer 04 Leverkusen midfielder Bernd Schneider could miss UEFA EURO 2008 after undergoing an operation on a herniated disc in his back in Hannover today.
According to Leverkusen officials, the 34-year-old will not be able to return to training until July. German national team coach Joachim Löw was informed about the procedure and will meet the doctors treating Schneider in the coming days to decide about the midfielder's chances of playing at the finals.
Injuries have limited Schneider to just 15 Bundesliga games for Leverkusen this season, though he has earned 81 caps for Germany, including six during EURO 2008 qualifying.

If Schneider misses Euro this year he probably wont play in the next one because he will be 38 by then.
