David Beckham believes Cristiano Ronaldo, seen here in June 2008, faces the hardest decision of his life as the Manchester United winger contemplates a move to Real Madrid. |

LONDON (AFP) - David Beckham believes Cristiano Ronaldo faces the hardest decision of his life as the Manchester United winger contemplates a move to Real Madrid.
Beckham was in the same position as Ronaldo in 2003 when he quit United to join Real and the England star admitted he found it tough to walk away from Old Trafford.
Ronaldo must decide whether to push United to sell him after making it clear he wants to move to the Spanish champions and Beckham is convinced the Portugal international has been struggling to make his choice.
"Playing for Manchester United was my dream but so was playing for Real. It was an incredibly difficult choice to make and I'm sure it is the same for Cristiano," Beckham told the Sun.
"When I left Manchester United the only other club I wanted to play for was Real Madrid.
"Living in Madrid and playing for Madrid - there's not many better clubs than that apart from Manchester United, which is equal. But to have those two choices is good for him."

Guys, please don't make me remeber my misfortunes. I was a good goal scorer in my youger days in Italy. Two Serie B teams were interested in me, Triestina and Spal of Ferrara, but when they saw how small I was, they lost interest. I knew then that I was not going to make it. Notwithstanding, I do not envy the successful ones. Good for them for trying to make as much money as they possibly can.CheexJM July 11st, 2008 19:03

Cristiano's talent certainly merits him to be in this position, but during the first few months of the Spanish media plugging away at transfer reports, Ronaldo said that he was happy at Old Trafford and didn't want to leave. I personally think he would have stayed for at least another year had Carlos Queiroz stayed on. However, with his mentor (arguably) gone, he'll probably end up at Real Madrid in the near future. Whether it's now, the winter transfer, or next year; Ronaldo will leave.Beckham hit the nail dead-on. Ronaldo has a team that is freakishly successful after him, and a team that is freakishly successful trying to keep him. It's a win-win situation, in terms of trophies, pay, and personal glory. But after signing a long contract, then wanting to turn back on it, he'll certainly be making several enemies in Manchester and beyond.

And as a Red Devils fan, I am disappointed that Ronaldo wants to leave only a couple of months after he said he wanted to stay at Old Trafford. SAF should sell him for a nice big fee and buy Huntelaar, who wants to come to Old Trafford, to add some more punch to the attack.Ronaldo, you've been a wizard for us, but I think that what you've said is a clear message that you'd like to move to Spain. Cheers on a great time here at OT, and I hope you are happy with your decision.

SAF should have kept his word by retiring this year. MU is not only losing Queiroz, but with his departure Ronaldo's future at MU has just gotten more precarious.babyboy July 11st, 2008 23:16

and yes, indc is right, it's a win win situation for ronaldo. he'll have all the same trophies and glory as he had in MU, but even more money. so yes, ronaldo is a good bitch that everyone wants to play with. and those who have the money can play with it.
