MILAN (AFP) - Thousands of fans turned up late Thursday as AC Milan unveiled Brazilian new signing Ronaldinho after the 2004 and 2005 World Player of the Year officially began life with the Serie A club, an AFP photographer said.
Ronaldinho has completed a 18.5-million-euro move from Barcelona and Milan invited fans to come along for a first glimpse.
Sky TG24 television said around 30,000 fans had shown up to see their new star enter the San Siro arena in a black and red club shirt but without a number on the back.
Earlier, Ronaldinho said: "I can confirm I desperately wanted Milan. Many things have happened, but in the end I am a Rossonero.
"I'm happy to be here and I repeat, I hope to make the Milan crowd joyful," said the world champion, who joins compatriots Kaka and teen prodigy Alexandre Pato at the San Siro.

30.000 fans to see Ronaldinho signing! Obviously my ex compatriots have lost the sense of life's value. Now I'm glad I'm out of Italy even though AC MIlan is my favorite team!Tarciturnio July 18th, 2008 01:19

Imagine what would have happened if a real top class player had joined Milan.DaJohnner July 18th, 2008 06:47
You guys have no clue....He was 2004 and 2005 Player of the year...has had some injuries the last little while and is now finally ready. He will immensely help AC Milan and return to better form at least for about 3 more years. Nice pick up for Milan and a Champions League birth and Scudetto are coming after the season's end.ajax72 July 18th, 2008 07:06
You key wors are 'was' and 'will'. This topic is about 'is' though. And he IS fat, and he IS out of form, and he IS disliked by some of his team mates etc.NakedWake July 18th, 2008 07:22
cameroon, those same comments are made about every league, most notably England and Spain. Matter of fact, most players play have the best of their career in Italy.Tontodonati July 18th, 2008 10:57
DaJohnner, you keep saying that we have no clue. In case you missed my reply to you last week, I will repeat it: "We are anxiously waiting for your immense wisdom. Unfortunately you miserably failed us again. Instead of living the friendly spirit of our group, you try hard to assert your alleged superiority. That tells me you have a complex of inferiority.BesTalentScout July 18th, 2008 15:23
how many fans will swear and spit at him when he flops ?LOL......................
Kaka will have to carry a heavier burden this season.............

PLAYER HATERS! give the man a chance to redeem himself. i can wait.. to see all you Italians putting your foot in your mouth, when dinho scores 20 goals, and make a run for the title. AC has a killer midfiel now.remember this guy is coming from somewhere he wasn't wanted, and Italy, specialy AC milan treat their players like royalty, and they know how to brainwash them to give the 110%. i got to tell you though. It's a big chalenge. but kaka and pato are a good influense on dinho, not the prostitute chaser Ronaldo.
Iron Horses AC Milan

I'm all for Dinho... I think it'll take some time, but he'll regain form and be of good use to the Brazitalian squad of AC Milan. Tonto - what's with the Canadian flag? Becoming one of us? Thought you were in the US...Tontodonati July 18th, 2008 19:35
crazy4footy, you must be new here. I was born and raised in Italy. I've lived in Canada 38 years (I'm a Canadian citizen). I've been in USA for the last 8 years! I'm an Italian-Canadian-American. Now you know why I am such a nice guy. I like everybody! I must admit that when I think of home, I think of Canada!ajax72 July 18th, 2008 21:25
Tonto, this sudden twist of patriotism is suspicious to say the least. What happened? Did your wife saw the avatar with the smasher? OMG! Nothing broken I hope. LOL.Tontodonati July 18th, 2008 21:50
Ajax, I didn't think I could fool you, Giorgio and the other guy, what's his name? But, No! My wife didn't say anything ... yet! She's from the Islands of the Philippins and a nurse. She's always working. She has no clue of what's going on! I'm having a great time. Today I shut an eagle in golf!ajax72 July 18th, 2008 22:01
I was fearing the worst, presuming your wife was italian. Queste non perdonano. Now I know I don't have to worry about you. You are in safe hands.Giorgio July 19th, 2008 11:23

La donna e' mobilequal piuma al vento
muta d'accento
e di pensier!
Giuseppe Verdi had it right!
ajax72 July 19th, 2008 17:37
Tonto I don't want to sound petty, but the libretto of the "Rigoletto" is by Francesco Maria Piave, not Verdi. Otherwise I completely agree with you.Tontodonati July 19th, 2008 23:52
Ajax 72, I stand corrected. However, when people sing this one, they think of Verdi rather than Francesco Maria Piave. Did you quickly research the history of music or are you versed in classical music? That's another good thing you like about Italy.ajax72 July 20th, 2008 12:45
I like very much only the 19th century italian opera 'cos we have world class sopranos: Raina kabaivanska, Ghena Dimitrova r.i.p., Ana Tomova Sintova, just to name a few. As far as 'Rigoletto' is concerned I didn't know the name of the libretista of course, but was sure that Verdi always wrote only the music.
