Ibrahimovic, Silva big losses, says Nesta

Former AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta believes selling Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Paris Saint-Germain would be a big mistake.
Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has admitted the key duo are on the verge of a move to the French capital, with PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti confirming that a deal is very likely.
And Nesta, who left San Siro this transfer window to join MLS side Montreal Impact, has said that the potential sales would severely weaken Massimiliano Allegri's team.
"Of course I follow the Milan news every day on the Internet," he told
La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"I still feel very attached to the group. The two sales are a great loss. They are players who should not be on the market.
"Maybe with the transfer fee they can buy three or four players of value, which will need to happen for Milan to be competitive."
Despite expressing his dissatisfaction with the duo's potential sales, the 36-year-old went on to defend Berlusconi, and feels the club's fans are in debt to their owner.
"For 26 years Berlusconi's money has been on the line. If he had not spent so much maybe the club would not have not done so well," Nesta said.
"The fans owe it to him. In fact, they should thank him. For a quarter of a century he has made them happy."
Milan relinquished their Serie A title to Juventus last term, and Nesta said AC Milan had underestimated Antonio Conte's men.
"We lost to Fiorentina and Bologna at home. We underestimated the strength of Juventus. We did not believe that they could have a championship like that," he said.
"They were great, they played very well and they are deserved champions. It is not an excuse, but we had so many injuries. We gradually lost confidence."
